CHAPLAINCY FOR LAY WORKERS
The above chaplaincy came into existence on Sunday 17th January 2016, during the Diocesan rededication service held at All Saint’s Cathedral Rumuokwurusi Obio, by a pronouncement made by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Innocent Uchechukwu Ordu, JP. Bishop, Diocese of Evo.
The Chaplaincy which is one of the Ministries within the Diocese of Evo established by the Diocesan, with Rev. Canon Godfrey Onyemelukwe as Chaplain to provide Spiritual cure and care and it aims at developing these categories of workers spiritually.
The Chaplaincy covers:
The clerks/Administrative staff at all levels, Drivers, Sextons, Yardmen and other Lay church workers.
However, in order to achieve the above purpose these following goals are kept in view:
To develop spirit filled and heaven conscious church workers.
Build up selfless and God fearing people with proven Christian Character.
Establish a good and Godly relationship among members and other Church workers and their employers (Diocesan and Local Churches)
Raise faithful Church workers who shall be committed to their tasks.
To accomplish the above goals/targets, we shall hold periodic fellowships/retreats for all members of the chaplaincy; organize trainings, seminars and workshops in synergy with Diocesan council for clergy and Laity continuing Educations (CCLE), as well as meeting/interactions, etc.
Every worker in the vineyard of God must be conscious of this while serving; that our service is not unto man, rather unto God who is the rewarder of all mankind.
Consequently, every worker is enjoined thus: “Not slothful in business; Fervent in spirit; Serving the Lord (Romans 12:11)
