WEEKLY REFLECTION ON 2026 DIOCESAN THEME: "IMMANUEL: GOD WITH US" (Matthew 1:23; Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 23:4)

SUB-THEME: GOD WITH US IN LIFE’S JOURNEY

TOPIC: God in the Waiting Room

TEXTS: Psalm 27:14; Lamentations 3:31-33

Waiting is one of the most uncomfortable activity in human experience. It stretches time, tests patience, and exposes our vulnerability. In a world driven by speed and instant results, the waiting room often feels like a place of silence, uncertainty, and even abandonment. Yet our theme, “Immanuel: God With Us,” reminds us that even here—especially here—God is present.

In Psalm 27:14, we are encouraged: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” This kind of waiting is not passive or hopeless. It is active trust. It is the decision to remain steadfast, even when answers seem delayed. Waiting becomes a spiritual discipline where God shapes our hearts, teaching us endurance, humility, and deeper reliance on Him.

Lamentations 3:31–33 reassures us that God’s delays are not His rejection: “For no one is cast off by the Lord for ever. Though He brings grief, He will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love.” These words speak directly to the pain of waiting—the moments when prayers seem unanswered and hope feels distant. Yet they also reveal the heart of God: compassionate, faithful, and ever-present. Even when He seems silent, He is never absent.

“God in the waiting room” invites us to see waiting differently. Instead of focusing only on what we are waiting for, we begin to notice how God is working within us. In the stillness, He refines our faith. In the uncertainty, He strengthens our trust. In the delay, He draws us closer to Himself.

Life’s journey will always include seasons of waiting—times of transition, uncertainty, and longing. But the promise of Immanuel assures us that we are never alone in these moments. God sits with us in the waiting room. He walks beside us through every unanswered question and every delayed expectation. And in His presence, we find peace—not because everything is resolved, but because we are held by Him.

Prayer:

Immanuel, help me to trust You in seasons of waiting and to remember that You are always with me. Strengthen my heart and fill me with peace as I rely on Your perfect timing. Amen.
