SUBTHEME: WHERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
TOPIC: Making a Difference in My Marriage/Family Life
TEXTS: Ephesians 5:21; Hebrews 13:4
Marriage and family life are sacred institutions ordained by God and designed to reflect His love and unity.
Ephesians 5:21 calls us to “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” This mutual submission is not weakness but strength - choosing humility, listening more, forgiving quicker, and serving selflessly. When the husband and wife walk in this mindset, they create a safe space where love can flourish.
Hebrews 13:4 reminds us that “marriage should be honoured by all.” In a world where commitments are often taken lightly, honouring marriage means staying faithful in words, thoughts, and actions. It involves prioritising time together, resolving conflicts peacefully, and modelling Christ-like behaviour before children and others.
Making a difference starts with small, daily choices: praying together, eating together as a family, sharing honest conversations, and showing appreciation. It is in these moments that trust is built and bonds are strengthened.
As a spouse or parent, you are expected to lead by example - loving unconditionally, serving joyfully, and forgiving freely. Your attitude and actions can either bring healing or harm. With God’s help, you can choose to be a peacemaker, a listener, and a pillar of grace in your home.
Making a difference in our marriage and family life also means being intentional about how we raise our children. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to “train up a child in the way he should go.” This goes beyond teaching good manners - it involves shaping character, modelling faith, and instilling values that last a lifetime.
May our marriages and families reflect God’s heart, and may others see His goodness through your household.
Prayer: Lord, bless my family and help us to shine your light and make a difference in the society.
