SUB-THEME: God With Us in Hard Times
TOPIC: Grace That Carries Us
TEXTS: 2 Corinthians 12:9; Isaiah 40:29
Grace can be simply remembered as “God in the race”— His strength and help accompanying us through life. Grace does not mean that we will never experience weakness, hardship or temptation; rather, it assures us that we do not face them alone. When our strength fails, God’s grace carries us.
1. Grace carries us through our weaknesses:
Paul pleaded with God concerning his weakness, but the Lord answered, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). God did not promise Paul the absence of weakness; He promised sufficient grace within it. Isaiah 40:29 similarly declares, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Our limitations do not disqualify us from God’s purpose. They can become places where His strength is revealed. Whatever assignment God has given you, do not depend only on your ability; depend on His grace.
2. Grace carries us through difficult times:
Isaiah speaks to people who are weary and discouraged. The message is clear: God gives strength to the weary. There are seasons when life becomes heavy, prayers seem delayed, and our human strength is exhausted. Yet God does not abandon His children in such seasons. Paul discovered this when he faced his own persistent struggle and learned that Christ’s grace was sufficient. Grace may not always remove the difficulty immediately, but it gives us strength to endure it and continue standing. When you feel you cannot go further, God can supply the strength you lack.
3. Grace carries us above sin:
The same grace that strengthens us in weakness also teaches us to live differently. “The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives” (Titus 2:11–12). We cannot overcome sin by human determination alone. God’s grace works within us, giving us both the desire and the ability to do His will (Philippians 2:13). Grace does not give us permission to remain in sin; it empowers us to rise above it.
Beloved, grace is God’s sufficient help for insufficient people. When you are weak, grace carries you. When you are weary, grace strengthens you. When temptation comes, grace empowers you to stand. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the God whose grace will be sufficient for every step of the journey.
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, let Your sufficient grace carry me through every weakness, trial and temptation. Amen.
If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus, you can pray:
Lord Jesus, come into my life. Forgive my sins and make me Your child. I believe You died and rose again. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me. Amen.
