SUBTHEME: TYPES OF UNLIMITED ADVANCEMENT AND ALL-ROUND FRUITFULNESS
TOPIC: UNLIMITED ADVANCEMENT IN THE CHURCH
TEXTS: Matt. 16:18; Acts 4:32–37
Introduction:
In our previous meditations, we have taken time to define the word “advancement,” and it is very clear that advancement refers to making progress, having results, improving in every aspect of life, and meeting up with God’s desired purpose and mandate on earth. The church, as a living organism and lively stone (1 Pet. 2:5), ought to make progress and fulfil her mandate here on earth.
Although the church is engaged in several battles with Satan, who tries to limit the progress and fulfilment of the mandate of the church, there is this assurance from God that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church (Matt. 16:18).
All through history, the Church has continued to match on, even in the face of trial and persecution. However, this persecution has often motivated the church to make more advancement and all-round fruitfulness.
The persecution of the Church in Jerusalem led to the advancement and spread of the gospel throughout the world. The church has never been a “sit down and look.” It has always been an adventurous, dynamic, going, and sending church.
There are areas in which the church is expected to make serious advancements, according to Acts 4:32–37.
▪️Numerical Strength: those who believe were in multitude (a large number).
▪️Advancement in Faith: They believed
Advancement in Unity: They were of one heart and one soul.
▪️Advancement in love: They shared everything in common.
▪️Advancement in anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit: With great power, they witness.
▪️Advancement in the Word of God: Their word was impacting.
▪️Advancement in the grace of God: They had great grace.
▪️Advancement in welfare: No one of them was in need; every one of them was cared for.
▪️Advancement in giving: People sold their lands, houses, and properties for the progress of the ministry.
▪️Advancement in respect and honour for ministers: They laid all at the apostles feet.
Conclusion:
It is obvious that the exploit the early church made was because of their advancement in these ten areas and beyond. If the church of today must make an impact, we must consider making advancements in these areas, and with God helping us, we shall fulfil our mandate in Jesus name.
Prayers:
1) God, we thank you for preserving the church, especially the Diocese of Evo, the bishop, priests, and parishioners, against the gate of hell.
2) Oh Lord, help us to make unlimited advancement in these areas as a diocese.
3) Lord, keep our nation, state, and communities so we can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere to do ministry in Jesus name.
