WEEKLY REFLECTION ON 2026 DIOCESAN THEME: "IMMANUEL: GOD IS WITH US" (Matthew 1:23; Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 23:4)

SUB-THEME: THE GOD WHO COMES NEAR

TOPIC: God Who Walks With People

TEXT: Genesis 3:8; Revelation 21:3

God did not create us for mere religion or empty philosophy; He created us for fellowship. From the very beginning, His desire has been to walk with us, to commune with us, and to dwell among us.

In Genesis 3:8, we see a beautiful picture of God walking in the garden. This reveals His closeness, His accessibility, and His longing for a personal relationship with humanity. Even after Adam and Eve sinned and hid themselves, God still came looking for them. This reminds us that no matter how far we stray, God seeks us first. His love is persistent, and His mercy never fails.

Many times, like Adam and Eve, we hide from God because of guilt, shame, or sin. Yet God continues to call out to us, inviting us back into fellowship. The story of Scripture is the story of a loving Father continually reaching out to restore His relationship with His children.

In Revelation 21:3, we see the glorious fulfilment of this divine plan: God dwelling with His people forever. There will be no more separation, no more sin, and no more distance. His presence will not be occasional but eternal. What a joy to know that God’s ultimate desire is to live with us and walk with us always!

Therefore, Christianity is not just about attending church or observing rituals; it is about daily fellowship with God—walking with Him, hearing His voice, and living in His presence.

You must be intentional about preserving your fellowship with God. Avoid anything that can create a gap between you and Him—such as sin, worldliness, or carelessness. Guard your heart and live in obedience so that nothing disrupts your walk with Him.

Beloved, do not hide from God. No matter your past or present condition, return to Him. He is ready to forgive, cleanse, and restore you. Open your heart and allow Him to walk with you again.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and for always seeking me, even when I stray. Lord, I repent of every sin that has created distance between us. Cleanse me and restore my fellowship with You. Help me to walk with You daily and to live a life that pleases You. Let Your presence never depart from me. Draw me closer to You and make my life a reflection of Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
