SUB-THEME: GOD WITH US IN LIFE’S JOURNEY

TOPIC: When Life Breaks You

TEXTS: Psalm 147:3; Hebrews 8:18

Introduction:

Life may appear to go smoothly, but it is designed with many ups and downs, and often the downs seem more than the ups.

Beloved, has anyone or anything ever broken your heart, leaving you with feelings of rejection, abandonment, betrayal, loneliness, and pain? God is the mender of broken hearts.

Even our Lord Jesus Christ felt this on the cross and cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46). Jesus, at the peak of His suffering, was completely isolated and forsaken by the Father, experiencing the utmost heartbreak so that we would not be rejected by God. He knows what it means to feel rejected and lonely.

Psalm 147:3 (KJV) says: “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

Life can break you through sickness, disappointment, betrayal, bereavement, loss of a job, broken relationships, a crumbled business, or financial crisis, leading to rhetorical questions such as: Why me? Will I ever be the same again? How do I get back up and keep moving?

The answer to these questions is yes. Jesus saves. Jesus heals broken and wounded hearts. He binds up your wounds daily and also heals physical sickness. Look up to Him as your sustainer in whatever life brings.

Romans 8:18 says: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Beloved, every pain has an expiry date, but glory does not. The coming glory outweighs your present suffering. Be strong.

Summary:

Though life may break you, build on the Word of God and not on the wound.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, heal my broken heart, reverse whatever has broken me in life, and let every scar become a star as I wait for the coming glory. Amen.
