SUB-THEME: PRINCIPLES OF UNLIMITED ADVANCEMENT AND ALL-ROUND FRUITFULNESS
TOPIC: LIVE A LIFE OF TOTAL CONSECRATION
TEXT: Rom. 12:1-2; 2 Cor. 6:14-18
In God's kingdom, orderliness is key. After receiving Jesus Christ, we require total consecration as we grow in our understanding of Christ.
Romans 12:1 urges us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. The consecrated life is characterized by holiness, which means being set apart or sanctified. The root word means "chaste" and "pure," and it involves devotion to God's service through Jesus Christ, sharing in God's purity, and abstaining from earth's defilement.
The consecrated life involves presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, fully surrendered to God in faith. The believer's body is the temple of God, which is holy, as taught by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:17, and must not be brought into any unequal, defiling yoke, as stated in 2 Corinthians 6:14.
Andrew Murray emphasized that God's desire for eternity was to create man as a dwelling place to display His glory.
We can rely on God's mercy by making our bodies a living sacrifice to Him.
Some reasons why we should consecrate ourselves to the Lord are:
1. to walk in His way
2. to grow in life
3. to allow God to work in us
4. to enjoy the riches of His salvation.
Thus, we can boldly say that consecration is important if we desire unlimited advancement as Christians.
Whether we are newly saved or longtime believers, each one of us can give ourselves to the Lord. We can present ourselves to Him right now.
PRAYER: "Take my life, and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee;
take my moments and my days,
let them flow in ceaseless praise..." (
Hymns A&M 361)
