SUBTHEME: WHERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Topic: Making a Difference in My Profession/Business
TEXTS: Ecclesiastes 9:10; Matthew 5:14–16; Colossians 3:23
God has called every believer to be a light in the world, not just in spiritual settings, but also in everyday environments, including our professions and businesses. Where we work is not just a place to earn income but a mission field to influence lives and reflect God’s glory.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 reminds us to do whatever our hands find to do with all our might. This includes our jobs, businesses, and professional engagements. Making a difference in your profession means working with excellence, integrity, and purpose. It is about showing up daily, not just to earn a living but to bring value, influence lives, and represent Christ well. Like Daniel in Babylon, our distinction and diligence can open doors to influence while pointing others to the God we serve. As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Colossians 3:23 reinforces this: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” As believers, we are not ordinary employees or business owners; we are ambassadors of Christ in the marketplace. Let our words, attitude, and work ethic reflect the light of Christ.
Our workplace is a divine platform. God wants to use our skills, character, and diligence to impact others and glorify His name. Don’t blend in; stand out. Make a difference where you work or do business.
Conclusion:
You don’t need a pulpit to shine for Jesus. Your office desk, classroom, shop, or boardroom is your altar. Make a difference there. Let your light shine so that others may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Prayer Points:
* Lord, help me to work with excellence and integrity, bringing glory to Your name in my profession.
* Father, let my life and labour in the marketplace reflect Your light and draw others to You.
