SUBTHEME: WHERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

TOPIC: Making a Difference with My Possessions

TEXTS: Proverbs 3:9–10; 1 Chronicles 29:10–14

Making a difference with our possessions is more than giving material things—it is an act of trust, worship, and faithful stewardship.

Proverbs 3:9–10 teaches us to honour the Lord with our wealth and with the first fruits of all our increase. When we do so, God promises to provide for us abundantly. This is not a transaction, but a relationship built on faith, reverence, and obedience.

In 1 Chronicles 29:10–14, King David reminds us that everything we possess already belongs to God. Our resources, time, and talents are not our own—they are gracious gifts from Him. When we give back, we are not doing God a favour; we are acknowledging His Lordship and expressing heartfelt gratitude.

To make a difference with our possessions means using them intentionally—to serve others, advance God’s kingdom, and responding to real needs around us. Our generosity mirrors God's character and invites His presence into our lives. It transforms both the giver and the receiver.

What are some practical ways we can make a difference with our possessions?

1. Tithing and Offerings: Giving regularly to your church to support ministry work, missions, outreach, and care for the needy.

2. Helping Those in Need: Sharing food, clothes, or money with those who are struggling.

3. Hospitality: Using your home to host fellowships, or offer accommodation to ministers.

4. Offering Time and Skills: Sometimes our most valuable possessions are our time, energy, and abilities—using these in service is just as powerful as giving money.

5. Leaving a Legacy: Planning your estate to support kingdom work even after you are gone is a lasting way to make a difference with your possessions.

When we honour God with what we have, we step into His greater purpose—bringing Him glory and extending His goodness to others.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to make a difference with my possessions. Amen.
