WEEKLY REFLECTION ON 2026 DIOCESAN THEME: "IMMANUEL: GOD IS WITH US" (Matthew 1:23; Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 23:4)
INTRODUCTORY REFLECTION (4)
TOPIC: Step Forward in the Assurance of God’s Presence
TEXTS: Matthew 1:23; Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 23:4
As we journey into 2026, the Word of God places before us one clear and sustaining truth: God is with us.This assurance is not limited to a single moment or circumstance; it runs through God’s promises, God’s presence, and God’s protection throughout our journey of faith.
Matthew 1:23 reveals the heart of this truth in the name Immanuel — God choosing to dwell among His people in the person of Jesus Christ. In Him, God is no longer distant but present, sharing our humanity and walking within our daily lives. This truth calls us to go through the year with trust, knowing that God steps into every season with us.
Deuteronomy 31:8 strengthens this assurance as we face the uncertainties of the future. God promises to go before His people, to remain with them, and never to abandon them. As we step into the unknown paths of this year, this promise calls us to move forward without fear or discouragement, confident that God is already present in what lies ahead.
Psalm 23:4 brings this promise into life’s most difficult moments. David reminds us that even in the valley of the shadow of death, God’s presence dispels fear and sustains the soul. The God who goes before us and dwells among us also walks beside us in our darkest valleys.
Taken together, these scriptures call us to live this year with courage and faith. We are invited to walk forward in obedience, trust, and hope — not because the path will always be easy, but because Immanuel is with us, leading us, sustaining us, and never leaving us.
Prayer:
Immanuel, our God-with-us,
As we step journey through this year, we place our lives in Your hands.
