WEEKLY REFLECTION ON 2026 DIOCESAN THEME: “IMMANUEL: GOD IS WITH US”
(Matthew 1:23; Deuteronomy 31:8; Psalm 23:4)
SUB-THEME: God with Us in Life’s Journey
TOPIC: When the Road is Unclear
TEXTS: Proverbs 3:5–6; Exodus 13:21
---
In today’s meditation, we consider what it means to walk with God when the road is unclear, drawing from the promise of Proverbs 3:5–6 and the example in Exodus 13:21.
Have you ever reached a point in your life where the path forward was completely hidden? Life often brings us to a crossroads where the way ahead is invisible. At such critical moments, we are faced with the anxiety of the unknown. We encounter financial challenges, career crossroads, ministry difficulties, fractured relationships, frightening medical diagnoses or conditions, feelings of closed heavens, and prolonged waiting for divine direction or intervention.
During these moments, the temptation is to panic, overthink, take shortcuts, or rely solely on our own limited understanding. Whatever situation we find ourselves in, we must understand that when the road is unclear to us, it is never unclear to God. When we cannot see the path, it is an invitation to trust the One who sees the entire landscape. God does not merely show us the way; He is the Way Maker.
Our text, Proverbs 3:5–6, is a call to total surrender to God, encouraging us to:
* shift from self-reliance to God-reliance;
* stop leaning on our own understanding;
* acknowledge God in all our ways (inviting Him into our daily choices).
When we heed these instructions, God ensures that our paths lead to the right destination—His purposes for us.
From Exodus 13:21, God assures us of His daily presence and guidance. We do not need to know the way; we simply need to follow the pillar by day and by night. The pillar of cloud and fire was God’s tangible presence going before His people. God is already in our tomorrow; He steps into our unknown. In times of confusion or fear, He illuminates our paths.
Whether your season is bright or dark, God provides guidance suited to your need.
How do we navigate an unclear road?
I. Embrace Jesus, the only Way (John 14:6). He is the means to our destiny.
II. Follow the pillar—God’s leading. Be guided by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14; John 14:26).
III. Utilise God’s Word (Psalm 119:105). God’s Word is a lamp to our feet.
---
CONCLUSION:
In your journey through life, if God has not given you clear direction to move, wait. If He has moved, follow immediately. You do not need a map when you know the Way Maker. Make Jesus your daily guide today.

PRAYER:
Dear Father, I surrender my desire to control my future and trust You with all my heart. When the road is dark, be my pillar of fire. When I am confused, be my pillar of cloud. Direct my steps, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
